7. Typical mark formation:

A legal hallmark in the Portugal comprises three marks:

(i) A sponsor’s mark – one (1)

(ii) A millesimal fineness mark – one (1) together with the Assay Office Mark

(iii) An assay office mark.

Example:

Voluntary marks are NOT in addition to the compulsory marks above.

8. Sponsor mark details: The design of the responsibility mark must have the following characteristics: an initial letter of the name of the entity, an exclusive symbol that cannot be confused with others that already exist and not sourced from the animal kingdom, surrounded by a shield. After the punch design has been approved, the punch and a stamp bearing the design must be ordered and handed over to the assay office until possession is taken.
